A few months ago we headed for a weekend escape down to the bottom tip of New Zealand’s North Island, to visit Wellington for the first time, well my first time to be precise. I’m slightly ashamed to say it, but it is evidently true – I have explored more of the world outside of our tiny country than I have of my very own backyard! But nevertheless, I love our little slice of the world and finally getting away for a few days to get lost through the cafe lined streets only confirmed all the wonderful things I had heard about the well nicknamed ‘windy city’.
We didn’t really do the touristy thing and do the ‘must see’ attractions and sights, so I’m afraid I’m still none the wiser on what to specifics to recommend, but rather we walked countless steps, we sat and watched, and we absorbed. It really does have a different vibe from our Auckland home town, it just feels that much more personal and is insanely creative; the city is literally lined with interesting nooks and crannies. Sprawled across several bays, the city seems to come with the type of endless views that one can’t help but to feel pensive looking out at the horizon. Oh Wellington, I hope to see you again soon!
