A WINTERS WALK IN THE WAITAKERES

I think what it is that I love about the cooler months, is the way that you can feel that crisp morning air as you breathe in, filling your lungs with an intense injection of fresh life.  Accompany this with rolling hills, views across the Waitakeres and a fluffly companion by your side, I just couldn’t resist setting out for a good stroll over the weekend.  Getting out and just being one with the beautiful countryside that is quite literally on our door step, is something David and I have started to try and embrace more often.  It’s so easy to just get caught up in being busy and always set in ‘productive mode’, but it is so important to remember to take a step back, take in all the little things around you and just appreciate the moment.  Seeing Zach, our two year old Border Collie, totally in his element running around like a complete nutter through the endless fields, was definitely such a moment.  He’s such an interesting little soul; imagine quite possibly one of the smartest dogs you know, who is only just coming out of his ‘teenage’ phase (fingers crossed!) and also believes he’s a lap dog, at 24kgs.  I couldn’t have been more content.  The quiet.  The views.  The smell of damp earth.  Sometimes there is just no better way to calm the mind than to wander in nature.

Hi Becs, great start – keep it coming! You’ll look back in years to come and it will be a great jog to the memories for all the things you’ve accomplished and spur you on to even more. Will tune in again and check how your holiday is going!
    Love always A. Toni

Becky your blog is so lovely! Just clicked through from a comment you left on mine, so glad I did! Beautiful photos, and your pup is a sweetie too. I totally feel you on the ‘super smart puppy so they’re a mega handful’ issue- Teddy was a nightmare for the first year, and still takes masses of mental stimulation to keep him busy and happy! Thank goodness they grow out of it, hey?

Consider me a reader from now on 🙂 X

Thank you so much Rosie! Oh gosh yes they can certainly drive you up the wall in these first couple of years, but they’re so completely worth it aren’t they! Your Teddy is such a cutie to x
